An Alley Cat Named Burrows
For the past several weeks, I noticed a tired old alley cat would wander around my office, obviously in search of food. The first couple of days, I would shew him away, admonishing him to leave me alone. But, as luck would have it, the cat kept coming back, still looking for a handout. Finally, I relented and gave it some food and water – hoping that with a full tummy it would move on. But no, clearly not satisfied with what was earlier given, the cat kept coming back looking for more. I realize now that I am stuck with the cat and that I will have to continue feeding it, probably for the rest of my life. Pondering my new relationship, I could not help but think how the cat resembled our County Government – you just can’t seem to get rid of it and they are always asking for more food (taxes). I then decided to call it Burrows – a new mascot for Bell County.

I will not be long before that Cat friend of yours has a litter of commissioners for you to feed. Then when they find out just how easy you are to take advantage of their little construction buddies will be gathering outside your office telling you just what type of new litter box is needed or maybe a compound built to house bad dogs in. All kinds of construction will be needed around your place. They will even drag in a dead mouse or two, or maybe a bird for you to put in your freezer for future use. I guess you will have to find a way to increase your income levels from existing clients or some such thing to support all their new needs and support.
How right you are. You sound like the kind of person who needs to vote in this blogsite’s recent poll….. Assuming I do end up with a litter of cats, do you have any suggestions as to what I should name them?
The names that just seem to pop into my mind would be:
Richard, Tim, Eddy, and John.

True, so true! Good choice. And there is usually a runt in the litter that may even smell a little bad. How about we call that one B.O.?
